Dear Poets:
Thank you for sharing your poetry manuscript with us for the inauguration of the Peter Meinke Prize in Poetry. We had submissions from all over Florida, and when I say it was competitive, I mean it. There were 12 finalists—unheard of! But most of you have received this news already, and in the end, none of this makes it any easier for you to learn that your manuscript was not selected as the winner. Having been on the receiving end of such news myself, I know the news is crummy.
Thank you for supporting YellowJacket Press as we honor one of the great poetry treasures of our state, Peter Meinke. Thank you for continuing to write. And thank you for believing in poetry. Please accept our sincere wishes for good fortune in all your future writing and publishing endeavors.
Sincerely,
Gianna Russo, Editor YellowJacket Press
